The Wellness Center has developed a new program that allows students to confidentially contact a licensed Wellness Center therapist via email. A student may access the Interactive Screening Protocol (ISP) website at www.smcm.caresforyou.org (or by clicking on the Anonymously Contact a SMCM Therapist link on the Wellness Center homepage) and creating sign-on credentials. The student can complete an assessment that explores depression, anxiety, and suicidality as well as share experiences or concerns. The student does not have to share any identifying information.
A therapist in the Wellness Center reviews the assessment and replies via the same secure website. Responses are sent within 24 – 48 hours. Every response includes both on and off campus resources to support the student’s mental health as well as a personalized email that references the score on the assessment and any concerns shared in the narrative. If appropriate, students will be encouraged to schedule an appointment at the Wellness Center, but are not required to do so.
We hope that students who feel uncomfortable walking into the Wellness Center to ask for support will utilize this anonymous online service. Our goal is to increase the support we offer on campus, and we are committed to offering new and unique ways for students to connect with our services.
This is not a crisis response service. If you are in crisis please contact one of the crisis services located here: https://www.smcm.edu/wellness/health-services/urgent-care/
