Assistant Director of Admission
St. Mary's College of Maryland, a public, non-sectarian, co-educational, liberal arts institution, is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Director of Admission. Reporting to the Director of Admission, the Assistant Director of Admission is part of a team of Admission Counselors and Assistant Directors who enthusiastically and effectively recruit new students to meet their assigned enrollment goals. The Assistant Director of Admission will be assigned the responsibility for the management of specific projects(s) based on their background, skills, and experience. General responsibilities include increasing interest in the College by counseling, interviewing, and communicating with prospective students and their families, secondary school counselors, and transfer advisors; extensive recruitment travel and programming in assigned territories; cultivating professional relationships with secondary school and transfer counselors and other constituents involved in the college admissions process; evaluation of applications and assisting with and attending on and off-campus recruitment events such as open houses and Admitted Seahawk Day.
Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree is required and a commitment to understanding the issues and concerns of prospective college students, Master's degree is desirable. Two years’ experience in admission counseling, sales or equivalent experience. Must possess a valid driver's license and be eligible to drive leased vehicles. Working knowledge of various computer software packages and strong writing skills are essential. Ability to lift at least twenty-five (25) pounds. Ability to travel nine to twelve weeks per year. Any combination of acceptable education and experience, which has provided the necessary knowledge and skills to fulfill the requirements of this position, may be considered.
