Fiscal Administrator in Accounts Payable
St. Mary’s College of Maryland at Historic St. Mary’s City is accepting résumés for the position of Fiscal Administrator/Accounts Payable. The major responsibilities include: processing invoices for payment; investigating and resolving invoice problems and payment inquiries from vendors; entering monthly journal entries and JADR’s/JAIA’s for interdepartmental/interagency activities; maintaining computerized and paper vendor files; assisting with year-end accounting accrual entries and auditor requests.
Qualifications: High School diploma or GED equivalency required; associate’s degree in accounting or similar discipline preferred. Seven years of responsible experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or secretarial assignments involving advanced records keeping. Must be bondable. Must have working knowledge of bookkeeping theories and practices and accepted office procedures; some knowledge of intermediate accounting procedures. Ability to perform a volume of numerical detail work accurately and to make difficult mathematical computations with and without mechanical assistance (ability to operate calculator by touch). Must be proficient in the use of computer-based spreadsheets and related software. Must have excellent verbal, written, and analytical skills and ability to work effectively with all levels of employees, students, state and federal officials, and the public. Must have the ability and desire to provide excellent customer service. Any combination of acceptable education and experience, which has provided the necessary knowledge and skills to fulfill the requirements of this position, may be considered. Employment will be contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check. The salary range is $41,000 to $45,500, depending on qualifications and experience.
