The wired and wireless network upgrade project is progressing at a very fast pace. In the coming weeks, we will be required to temporarily shut down network access in each of the office and academic buildings as we replace and add new network switches. We are working to minimize downtime and expect that the network will be unavailable for approximately two to three hours in each building. At this point, we expect to be taking buildings offline one at a time beginning the week of June 27. You will be notified 24 to 48 hours in advance of a particular building being scheduled for the downtime. Since this will be such short notice, we wanted to give you early warning of the coming phase of the project.
Please note, if you see one of the shiny new Aruba wireless access points overhead, it is not active yet. The cabling contractors are hanging access points as they run the cable, but the wired network gear has yet to be installed. Toward the end of the summer, buildings will come online one by one with the new wireless and you will be notified of that progress.
Thank you so much for your patience during this massive upgrade to our wired and wireless network infrastructure.
