Students from the Spring 2014 ANTH 385 Research Methods are working on a class project at ‘Long Looked For Come At Last’ in Charlotte Hall at the invitation of the property owners. Under the direction of Dr. Steve Lenik, students have recorded a cemetery containing more than 75 burials which are marked by headstones, footstones, and shallow depressions. Since there is no identifying information about the people interred there, the students have conducted archival research about the history of ‘Long Looked For Come At Last’, and they also completed archaeological excavations in areas near the cemetery in an effort to establish dates of occupation of the site. Results of this research will be presented at the end of the semester in May.
