After years of a successful and popular minor in Environmental Studies, SMCM started an ENST major in 2016. Within one year, ENST became one of the largest majors on campus.

We have an active, diverse and growing faculty. The program currently has three tenure-track positions along with a cadre of faculty in support of the program from across the college with backgrounds in science, humanities, social science and policy.

The cross-disciplinary nature of the program is designed to enable students to understand a range of techniques and theories for measuring, monitoring, managing, and responding to natural environments during different time periods, across diverse cultures, and on local, regional, and global scales.
