Accountant
St. Mary’s College of Maryland at Historic St. Mary’s City is accepting résumés for the position of Accountant. The major responsibilities include the following: primary accounting function for all grant and Foundation activities, assists in advising and training College staff and faculty regarding the roles, responsibilities, and current best practices during fiscal administration of sponsored programs, reconciliation of revenue for Historic St. Mary’s City (HSMC), and management of delinquent former student accounts.
Requirements include: Associate’s degree in accounting or similar discipline required. Bachelor’s degree in accounting or similar discipline preferred; at least two years’ experience using mainframe-based automated financial accounting systems; knowledge of fund accounting and GAAP for higher education. All applicants for this position must have excellent verbal, written, and analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively with all levels of employees, students, state and federal officials, and the public. Applicants must have the ability and desire to provide excellent customer service. Proficiency in the use of various computer software applications is required. Any combination of acceptable education and experience, which has provided the necessary knowledge and skills to fulfill the requirements of this position, may be considered. Employment will be contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check and proof of COVID-19 vaccination, medical and religious exemptions will be considered.
