In addition to mandated state and federal reporting, the Office of Institutional Research & Planning participates in national data consortia and contributes to a variety of data initiatives.
American Association of University Professors (AAUP)
The American Association of University Professors (AAUP) collects faculty compensation data from colleges and universities nationwide, and publishes an annual report in the March/April issue of their magazine, Academe. The most recent report on 2023-24 salaries can be found here. More information about the faculty salary survey and links to previous years reports are available here.American Talent Initiative (ATI)
The American Talent Initiative (ATI) is a Bloomberg Philanthropies-supported collaboration between the Aspen Institute’s College Excellence Program, Ithaka S+R, and a growing alliance of colleges and universities dedicated to substantially expanding opportunity and access for low- and moderate-income students. ATI members—all graduating at least 70 percent of their students within six years—have joined together to address this challenge.
OIRP provides annual updates to ATI on cohort and enrollment data. The latest reports and data shared by ATI can be accessed here.
Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges (COPLAC)
The Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges (COPLAC) is a consortium of institutions whose educational mission includes providing superior liberal arts and science education to their students. COPLAC advances the aims of its member institutions and drives awareness of the value of high-quality, public liberal arts education in a student-centered, residential environment.
COPLAC Data Profile Consortium
The COPLAC Data Profile Consortium initiative ended with the 2016-17 academic year. Comparative data from subsequent years is available from the IPEDS Data Center.
Higher Education Data Sharing Consortium (HEDS)
The Higher Education Data Sharing Consortium (HEDS) is a community of colleges and universities committed to sharing data, knowledge, and expertise to advance undergraduate liberal arts education, inclusive excellence, and student success.
OIRP coordinates with HEDS to administer a number of campus-wide surveys, including campus climate, diversity, and student satisfaction. SMCM also participates in HEDS data exchanges, which provides benchmarking data on topics such as graduation rates, retention, and faculty compensation.
Student Achievement Measure (SAM)
The Student Achievement Measure (SAM) is a transparency initiative where higher education institutions track students across institutions to create a more complete picture of undergraduate student progress and completion within the higher education system.
