
Creating a Safe Living and Learning Environment
- College-sponsored travel requires adherence to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention/county/State Department guidelines.
- Visitors, consultants, and guests are fully permitted on campus, provided SMCM protocols are followed. Department/unit heads are responsible for ensuring that visitors/consultants/guests follow safety and capacity requirements.
- In-person events will take place during the 2021-2022 academic year. The size of groups that will be accommodated will depend on St. Mary’s County Health Department guidance.
- Student programs, services, and resources that were virtual or online will return to in-person for the 2021-2022 academic year, with careful attention to safety and capacity issues and with judicious use of virtual engagement when appropriate.
- Department/unit heads are encouraged to continue exploring ways in which technology can continue to support providing excellent service and engagement opportunities.
- The Wellness Center will provide face coverings and sanitizer upon request.
- Disinfection stations have been placed throughout campus to allow users to disinfect areas independently.

Schedule
- ARC Facilities: Monday-Friday 6 a.m.-9 p.m., Saturday/Sunday 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
- Climbing Wall: Monday-Thursday 3 p.m.-9 p.m., Friday 3 p.m.-6 p.m., Saturday/Sunday 1 p.m.-4 p.m.
- Pool: Monday-Friday 12 p.m.-2 p.m. & 6 p.m.-8 p.m., Saturday 12 p.m.-4 p.m.
Policies
- The ARC Facilities will maintain the requirement for use of face covering while working out in the MPOARC.
- Patrons continue to wipe down machines before and after use.
- Patrons continue to enter via the Welcome Desk doors. Other entrances remain closed.
- Evaluate capacity limits to allow more patrons in individual spaces.
- General public is allowed to use our facilities.
- Locker rooms will be open, but patrons will be required to wear a face covering while in the locker rooms.

Testing
**Testing will be mandatory for all participants who are not fully vaccinated**
SMCM athletics will be utilizing Antigen tests to fulfill NCAA guidelines for athletic participation. As
testing will be based on the specific season and game schedule, it is imperative that any and all changes are discussed with the head athletic trainer and sports medicine staff to ensure adequate scheduling of tests and obtaining tests is plausible.
- Notification of Test:
- The head athletic trainer or sports medicine staff will email the head coach with details of who, when, and where. It is the coach’s responsibility to inform the athletes of those details.

- Missed Test:
- If any ATHLETE misses a test for any reason-subject to 7-10 day athletic quarantine
- If known that an athlete will miss a test, please discuss with the head athletic trainer to discuss

- Must get their own test if one can’t be provided by athletics
- Minimally 1 PCR test per 2 weeks in order to be on sidelines
- If travelling on bus, must have test within 72 hours
- Rapid Antigen/PCR test acceptable for coach’s only ~24 hours or day of game
Wellness Center
Waiting room
- Students and staff will follow the current College policy on face coverings in indoor spaces.
- If the campus removes the requirement to wear a face covering in indoor spaces the Wellness Center reserves the right to ask anyone in the Center to wear a face covering if they have symptoms of illness.
- Staff members will follow current campus guidelines about face coverings in their individual spaces and when gathering for meetings.
Medical exam rooms
- Healthcare staff will wear appropriate PPE when interacting with students/patients.
- Students will be asked to wear a face covering during medical exams as appropriate.
- Use of masks and other safety measures at events will reflect the current policy on campus.
Library
Hours of operation FY 21-22
- Library: Sunday 12 p.m. – 10 p.m.; Monday-Thursday 8 a.m.-10 p.m.; Friday 8 a.m.-7 p.m.; Saturday 12 p.m.-5 p.m.
- Archives: By appointment only.
- Media Center: Access to the 3rd floor will align with the library hours; access to services (equipment room, recording studio, and lab) will be determined by the Office of Information Technology (OIT). Please reach out to them directly by submitting a Media Center ticket at https://servicedesk.smcm.edu/
- W&SC: Appointments can be made through their online scheduler; walk-in services are available only if a tutor is on duty. Hours are pending but will not extend beyond library hours; no evenings and weekends; typical hours vary based on tutor availability, appointment demand, and budget.
- CITL: Operating hours: Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-5 p.m., CITL only (this will be monitored by both CITL and library staff). Monday-Friday 5 p.m.-8 a.m., student access to common area and computer lab; Saturday and Sunday 24-hour access. Signage will be posted at the entrance as well as in the computer lab.

Campus Guest Policy
Student guest
College business
- Guests who are fulfilling an obligation to the College or completing a contract are permitted on campus.
- Guests attending events must abide by all the College Policies while on campus, including COVID-19 policies.
- Campus visitors must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and be able to present proof of vaccination upon request by College officials when attending indoor events or large gatherings outside when social distancing cannot be ensured. If campus visitors are not vaccinated or cannot show proof of vaccination, they must present proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of arrival to campus.
Attendance at events
- Guests attending events (admission, athletics, academic lectures, social events, etc.) must abide by all the College Policies while on campus, including COVID-19 policies.
- Campus visitors must be up to date on vaccinations for COVID-19 and be able to present proof upon request by College officials when attending indoor events or large gatherings outside when social distancing cannot be ensured.
