The top 18 schools in the Middle Atlantic Inter-Collegiate Sailing Conference (MAISA) battled in Kings Point, NY for their conference crown. Throughout the semester the top teams earned the right to represent the 55 school conference at the US Merchant Marine Academy October 26-27. After 26 races across both A and B Divisions in a full range of wind conditions; the St. Mary’s College Seahawks bested the field. The Seahawks edged-out the US Naval Academy Midshipmen by 8 points. The elite public honors college crew stayed close enough to the leaders in A division (Leo Boucher ’22-West River, MD/ Ashley Wagner ’20-Easton, MD, Sam Muir 21-Santa Barbara, CA, Lucas Massiello ’23- Baltimore, MD), that their victory in B division (Chase Cooper ’21-Bermuda, Sophie Taczak ’21-Annapolis, MD, Thomas Walker ’21-Richmond, VA) put them over the top when the scores were combined to take the win.
