New Publications from Jeff Hammond

Jeff Hammond’s essay “Eight-Per-Five” appears in the most recent issue of Under the Sun, a national, online literary journal devoted to the art of the essay.  Each issue features exemplary and evocative creative non-fiction.  Check out Hammond’s essay here:

His essay “YouTube’s Winged Chariot:  On Time, Memory, and Internet Video” is part of the collection Creating Nonfiction:  Twenty Essays and Interviews with the Writers.  The anthology is available now as a Kindle download, and will be out in print this summer.

Cognard-Black’s New Collection Wins Award

Jennifer Cognard-Black’s new co-edited collection of essays, From Curlers to Chainsaws:  Women and Their Machines, is a gold medal winner!  From Curlers to Chainsaws, which features women’s accounts of their relationships to the objects they use, was named best anthology in the Independent Publishers Book Awards contest.  Read more about the award here:

Wooley Presents at C19

Professor Wooley recently presented her paper, “Limited Liability and the Sentimental Novel,” at the biennial conference of C19:  The Society of Nineteenth Century Americanists.  Her paper was part of a panel, “Genealogies of Growth,” that she co-organized.  The panel took up the conference theme of “unsettling” by interrogating how nineteenth-century writers problematized representations of economic growth.
