Assistant Professor of Art
The Department of Art seeks a liberal arts colleague for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Art, with an expertise in teaching art education courses and who possess an additional area of studio art expertise to begin August 1, 2026.
Required qualifications include all the following: an M.F.A in a studio art discipline, an M.A. or higher degree in Art or equivalent experience, three years full-time undergraduate teaching experience and must be a practicing artist with an active recent exhibition record. Teaching a 3-3 load, this position will teach courses in art education that include ART 269 Community Arts and ART 369 Art for Educators and will coordinate and build on a well-established network of community partnerships. In addition to art education courses, this position will teach courses at all levels in their studio art specialty, at intervals teach the shared Art major course work that includes the culminating year-long senior year ART 430 Capstone 1 and ART 431 Capstone 2 that involve the development of self-proposed studio work and related professional development, Art 205 Introduction to Visual Thinking as well as teach first-year LEAD 101 seminar courses as a representative of the Department of Art. All Art Department faculty have the ability and a willingness to work with students in a liberal arts context and advise and supervise student projects across studio art disciplines that include photography, painting, drawing, design, printmaking, digital media art and animation. All tenure-track faculty serve as academic advisors to students in the department and more broadly at the College. The salary range for this position is $74,000 - $80,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
