Hurricane season runs from June 1 through November 30 of each year. SMCM is a coastal campus and therefore may be subjected to hurricanes throughout the season. The SMCM community has a comprehensive response and recovery plan in the event the campus is affected by tropical storm conditions. The College does its utmost to ensure the safety of the campus community.
Should a severe tropical storm occur:
- Stay inside – Hurricanes can produce winds over 150 mph and heavy rains which may result in falling trees and flooding.
- Stay informed – Check with your RA/RHC for information. Check the SMCM website and your campus email for important information.
